Georgia's oldest light, on guard at the mouth of the Savannah River since before the Revolution — the 1867 tower is the fourth on the site (the keeper's cottage even kept the burned-out 1741 brickwork for a chimney). Lower half painted black, upper half white, so lookouts could tell it apart. Tybee is one of the few lighthouses that still shows a steady, never-blinking white light.
